Hi all, recently diagnosed (25th June) with invasive ductal carcinoma stage 1. Lumpectomy and Sentinal Node Removal planned for 28th July (4 days after my daughters wedding). Had to go cold turkey stopping HRT so emotions all over the place. Planned treatment so far is the surgery then radiotherapy then medication as long as the nodes come back clear. The one thing I’m struggling to cope with at the moment is all the waiting around. Even though I have the distraction of the wedding it’s been planned for so long thanks to covid there’s not much left to do and everything I do my thoughts just come back to I have cancer. Anyone else for surgery planned for later in the month?
Hi I was diagnosed on 23rd of June and have my operation on 23rd July but also have to isolate for 7 days before, I was told the date today, so I’ll have lots of things to plan before next week. I think the only way I have coped so far is by trying not to think of the C word and just telling myself I have a lump and it’s grade 1 and only 12mm and I’ll be fine ( easier said than done I know). I have a weekend away booked for September so I’m hoping I’ll be ok as it was cancelled due to Covid last year.
Enjoy your daughters wedding hope she has a lovely day and good luck for your surgery on 28th.
Big hugs
Diane
Hi Diane thanks for the reply - it’s a bit of a rollercoaster isn’t it. Good luck with your op. I only have to isolate for 3 days which just fits in. I really hope you get your time away too - we didn’t have anything booked last year but we do have a week in the Lake District booked for October. Keen Walker so hopefully fit enough by then although I think any further treatment won’t happen till September. Wishing you all the best xx
Hi just read your story I am currently waiting for results from ct scan and need a bone scan next week I have been told I have a fast growing cancer and my lymph nodes are effected so the waiting is really getting to me, they use the words fast growing then make you wait!!! What's that all about?????? I cannot function like you every single thought I have goes back to shit I got cancer! I feel for you I really do it's nice to know I'm not alone with that one so thank you for sharing
Take care debi x
Hi Beaglelady, how does the isolation work before surgery? Do you have to isolate from others in your household, do they have to isolate too?

Hi with my Health board I have to isolate for 7 days, everyone in the household has to isolate too, but even then you have to stay 2m away from everyone, clean bathroom and kitchen every time someone uses it. If everyone else is not isolating then you have to basically stay in your room and not come into contact with anyone.
But all Health boards are different.

Hi, I only had to isolate 3 days before surgery, and although he was careful about mixing outside household my husband didn't’ have to isolate x
My consultant said my whole household has to isolate but now I have a covid test on the Monday and a Radiation injection on the Tuesday so nt much isolating going on. I will only go to these appointments and luckily my husband and Daughter can work from home. I think it's different depending on where you live.
