I have found out today I have breast cancer. after no issues with mammogram or ultrasound the biopsy has now returned the news (although only found this out by a call from a breast nurse) . Next step is MRI and I won't lie I am scared and not sure really what happens next. Only my wife knows just now not sure I can find the words to tell others. I just wanted to put this somewhere so I have said it. Thanks for reading.

  • Hello January722

Sorry to be the one to welcome you to the club that we all wish we hadn't had to join. All of us here have been at the stage that you are at today. It is a lot to come to terms with and it is absolutely natural to be scared of the unknown. We were just the same.  Know that there are many of us here to give you support as you take the next steps. Things have come a long way in breast cancer treatments and each one of us has a customised care and treatment plan depending on the exact features of our condition. You will get a plan too and it all becomes a little easier to face when you know what the steps ahead for you are.

Use your specialist breast nurse for support and as soon as you are allocated a consultant ,use them too. That is what they are there for.

Take care and keep in touch on the forum. There will always be someone who has already been through whatever stage you are at and can answer questions and give tips on getting through with the fewest side effects.

    Good Luck

Thank you Wallydug I have took to reading a few things today. It is a great comfort to know there is support and advice out there. I will use this forum stage by stage. I have now banned myself from Google and will get advice from people in the know.

    Thank you again.

  • Google is not curated and can scare one witless. Breast Cancer Now is the website that my specialist nurse suggested. They publish quite a few of the printed guidebooks on specific subtopics which my NHS clinic give out to their patients.

I will give that a try. Thank you again you've been very helpful. I wish you well x

  • Sorry to hear this, but you've come to the right place. I agree, ban google completely! I was in your shoes back in February adn I honestly think this is the worst phase. Certainly I was much better once I had certainty of the extent and a treatment plan.  My blog is over on the blog site, it's called One Life Live It and it documents my story in a reasonably positive and upbeat way. It not hiding from the reality. Maybe this helps, xx

  • Hi I found out last Wednesday that I have breast cancer too. I went for my MRI yesterday and it honestly wasn't so bad. I'm over on the Breast Cancer Now forums too (user name louby_lou69) so feel free to message me. I'm now waiting to find out what the MRI has shown and get a treatment plan in place. I have my pre-op assessment booked for 19/7 so things could move very fast.

This is something the NHS do best! Take care
