Hello! I’m newly diagnosed and still in shock! I get an annual health assessment that I can access through my husband’s work. I receive a mammogram as part of that and they noticed a 7cmx3cm  area of calcification. I had my appointment at the breast clinic on 12 May. That day, I was not expecting to be discussing DCIS with the breast nurse and a mastectomy with the consultant!! I had an ultrasound and they said everything looked clear in my armpit. I then had a biopsy that same day. It was all such a shock as I’d had no outward symptoms!
My biopsy results showed invasive cancer grade 3. I had a second biopsy to check if the area was invasive cancer all the way through or just at one end. This was much more painful as it was closer to my nipple. My boob was terribly sore and bruised for 3 weeks. I now have a hard lump in my boob that I didn’t have after my first biopsy.
My cancer is HER- and ER+. They checked my menopausal status and I was peri menopausal. I then had a zoladex implant on 17 June (still bruised there). I started my letrozole yesterday and now I’m having a period today. I’m having a mastectomy, implant reconstruction and sentinel node biopsy on 30 July. Trying to stay positive but this all feels like the calm before the storm!

  • Hi, gosh that is a lot to take in. On a positive, if there is such a thing, it does sound like you have a clear treatment plan and way forward, so something to focus on.  This group is really supportive for everything, whether that be questions and advice or simply somewhere to let off some steam or get some support.  The blogs are good too, people are really willing to share experience.   Hope you continue to stay positive x
