Hi I’m new here saying Hi two days post op masectomy emotional painful and havnt looked yet .
Hi I’m new today too. I had a mastectomy in January and was also scared to look. Emotions are bound to be all over the place. I still can’t touch where mine used to be. It’s a little numb in places still and I’m not sure if I will ever get full feeling back. Having said that, be brave. You’ll probably cry. I know I did but it was a necessary procedure and you must always tell yourself that. Sending virtual hugs xx
Hi to you both….I had my mastectomy nearly 3 years ago. Best thing I did after having an implant that went wrong! I have healed well….
I appreciate it may take some getting used to…but you will get there!
I hate mastectomy bras and have just bought a load of m&s T-shirt bras (underwire)….what an amazing change and impact on my life! The mastectomy bras were horrible…uncomfortable, difficult to wear, looked odd! With the new ones, I can just pop in my prosthetic and it stays in place! The bra feels and looks normal…..it has made such a difference to me!
The operation is a big one and, yes, it takes time to recover….but the cancer has been removed….and time will heal. Take it from me, I now wear most clothes I want too…(okay I don’t have a cleavage now but…) with a normal bra I feel good.
My wish? To be completely flat but the surgeon won’t consider it….
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
