Had my lumpectomy a week ago and consultant appointment next Thursday. Feeling low, sore and I know everyone says it will be okay, but it doesn’t feel that way Pensive

  • Hi , how you are feeling is normal.  You’ve been through a lot and if you need chemo or radiotherapy you know that there is more to come and the whole thing is just exhausting and miserable.

The emotions are exhausting and pain is exhausting.  Also the after effects of the general anaesthetic can leave you feeling low and tired.

It will take some time but as the pain lessens and the effects of the anaesthetic wear off you will start to feel better.

Hang in there and you will get through this.

    Sending hugs xx

  • I'm 10 days down the line from my lumpectomy and today I feel very weepy and low. Its taken a while to feel better especially after all the drugs with surgery. And I ache terribly as i have 2 scars one from lumpectomy and one from sentinel node removal. For me surgery was the big thing but have yet to get sorted with radiotherapy.  Awaiting my appointment and I find the waiting very hard going. I know I'm not on my own and reading about others has helped but I find it hard talking with family as not been through it. Just take one day at a time. I posted as new when I joined yesterday and got a lovely reply. Your body is trying to heal and cope post surgery and it does take time. Here if you need a moan, rant or anything else x

Thank you, I hope your appointment comes through soon. It’s so weird that I look absolutely the same as I did before the diagnosis and yet inside I feel completely different. So glad that I found this forum just helps so much to feel like you are not alone x

  • Hi Petrinajane

Welcome and sorry toi hear that you have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It understandable that you are feeling scared but it will be ok. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last September and after having chemo and surgery I am now Cancer free.  Once you find you have a treatment plan in place you should start to feel better as you're doing something to fight back against this disease.

Wishing you the best of luck with your appointment on Thursday and with whatever treatments your medical team decides to put you on.  I'm on here everyday so if you have any questions I will be happy to answer them if I can and if I can't someone else on this forum will be only too happy to answer them.

    Best wishes
