Hi everyone,

After my first mammogram having just turned 50 was diagnosed as having a 23mm grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma, ER positive Her negative.habe my seed appointment tomorrow, covid test Sunday and all being well my operation next Wednesday 5th May.

I just feel numb at the moment,  putting on a brave face told the guys at work I was getting a free boob job JoyJoy my partner really struggles with it so I'm being strong for him and the family. Currently self isolating....Will only be on the chat while my partner is at work so don't worry if you don't hear from me for a few days.

Hope you are all well and beating this thing.

  • Hi, this sounds like such a lot for you to take in, in a short period of time.  I am only diagnosed 2 months but find this forum really super supportive, at all times if the day and night.  Hopefully you can find the support you need in here

Thank you for your reply, I saw the Dr two weeks ago when he diagnosed me after my biopsy (two weeks previously but I already new it was cancerous as the Dr who took my biopsy said he was 100% certain it was and this was a week after my mammogram.....so it has been quick but if I'm honest it's the way I would prefer it as I just want to get the treatment started.

Weirdly I think both my cats know as even now they are both cuddled up with me, something that they haven't done since they were six months old.

Neither of my daughters live with me but my youngest is coming up the week after my operation to lend a hand ,but I really think its just to check I am okay.

I've got some really comfy post op bras from asda of all places, I have started wearing them now as there is nothing worse that a new bra ....just the squeakingJoyJoy.....and have got a high impact sports bra for straight after the op....packing my bag as I go ....although I'm glad it's just a day case.

I also suffer from fibromyalgia ( for 23 years) so I am on pain relief for that which has made me wonder if it masked any pain. But on a positive hopefully I should not be in much pain after the op. I also know how to pace myself so that's a good thing.

  • You sound really organised and know what to expect, I hope you'll be able to give me some pointers as I am undergoing chemo now, surgery in July.   Good that you have your daughter coming post op.  Hope all the pre op stuff goes well
