My mum has just been diagnosed with breast cancer for the 2nd time. This time she needs a mastectomy and chemo. She is 78 and I'm so scared about what's to come. She was in her 40s and much healthier when she fought it first time. She has her surgery on Monday and I'm currently isolating so i can move in with her post op. Any advice on caring dorher most welcome. Cancer stole my dad at just 62 and the thought of going through this again is breaking my heart.
Hi Donnatella72 welcome to the forum. I am glad to say that things have changed markedly in the Breast Cancer world in the last 30 odd years and whilst the fact of having Cancer doesn't change much, the treatment is different and almost always doable.
I do recognise that this will be scarey for you all but there is no reason not to expect that your mum will go on to make a full recovery form this.
