Hello I found out on Monday that I have TNBC and will start chemo within the next week or so, I was wondering if anyone has continued to work during their treatment? I keep telling myself to try to do as much normal stuff has possible but until I can speak to oncology I have no idea what to expect. I also have horses and do want to be able to care for them too but maybe I am being a bit optimistic, any advise would be great, thank you.
Hi - well I’ve had my height weight checked and blood taken. Been told it’s EC for the first 4 sessions (may be reduced to 2) then paclitaxel for the final 4 (again may be reduced to 3) going to try the cold cap but they said even using it I’ll prob lose 60-80% of my hair. Been told about the side effects and when to phone them or go to A&E - managed to bring my 2nd Covid vacinne forward to 23 may (was 8 June) so hope that’s before chemo starts. Will have radiotherapy after chemo aswell - looks like I’m throwing everything at it aswell as the kitchen sink! Crikey I’m scared of what’s to come xx
Good luck for Wednesday. Someone told me to give myself something afterwards to “reward” yourself - even if it’s just a nice hot choc drink and biscuit, can be anything. I’ll be thinking of you that day. Do you know what drugs you’re having? Let me know how you get on xx
Hi Monalisa1869
I'll be on FEC-T..... FEC for the first 3 sessions, then T for the next 3.
Trying to get stuff sorted round the house so I don't feel guilty for doing nothing for a while if necessary.
Had bloods and covid test this morning. In and out in 10 minutes
Dentist after that. I've been advised to avoid dental work during chemo if possible, so I had a check up this morning. Last year I had a temporary filling but the tooth has now cracked so out it came...... I now have a sore jaw x
I have called my GP about bringing my 2nd vaccine forward but they have none in stock. Lol..... I'll check with the hospital tomorrow x
I'm glad you've got a plan now. I guess now you just want dates.
I was given mine at my oncologist appointment, well, he said we'd aim for.... And they came thru as he suggested x
I'm not planning to use the cold cap. I could do with a new hairstyle
Sarah.... Keep looking forward
Isn’t it strange that we’ve both for tnbc but having different drugs? I’ve got the dentist in a couple of weeks and think I’ve lost a filling recently Let’s get thru this together! I’ll be a bit behind you so I’ll look to you for hints and tips
xx
Meant to say I’ve got my 2nd Covid on 23 may - exactly 2 months after the first - been told not to cancel it yet but see if it fits in with chemo, 23 may might be just about the time chemo starts as they said 3ish weeks now to wait xx
Get in to the dentist before you start chemo. I phoned mine last week and explained, they were great and got me in.
I've been told the covid jab doesn't interfere with chemo. It's just best to have it as soon as you can for the extra protection. I had my first one in Feb, so it's due next month anyway.
Trying to pack a day bag for Wednesday, puzzle books, sweets etc. I'm sure I'm forgetting things
I haven't got my head around all the drugs yet. Give it a few months and we'll be experts
Sarah.... Keep looking forward
I’ve got the dentist next week,I had a checkup in jan 2021 but when I phoned and said I was starting chemo and think I needed a checkup before starting the receptionist agreed and booked me in. I’ve started making a list already for my chemo days and general things I might need - I like lists and being in control, cancer wasn’t in my plan for this year!! Bring on Xmas xx
I like lists but I have a habit of losing them!!!
Bought a colouring book and some pens today. Not sure if it will be my thing but worth a try. Also downloaded some box sets to watch during chemo just in case people aren't chatty.
My OH's granddaughters 4th birthday tomorrow. Plenty to keep my mind occupied.
Trying to persuade him to get me a dog. Unfortunately he won't budge at the moment
Sarah.... Keep looking forward
