Hello all, I have grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. No lymph node involvement but am starting fec chemo soon. Are there others who have opted for adjuvant treatment and if so how did you get on. Or have you refused and why. Many thanks in anticipation
Hi Coffeeholic
Whilst I didn't opt for chemo pre surgery I'm glad in hindsight that I had chemo 1st as I had time to recover post chemo pre surgery, I've read stories of ladies still recovering from surgery whose recovery is then delayed by chemo side effects...I'm very much a one issue at a time kinds gal! I recovered far quicker from chemo than I did from any of my surgeries and could exercise and do stuff after chemo that I couldn't for a while after surgery (hoover, reach, wash-up etc.). Also am glad didn't have to do the prescribed arm exercises when I felt rough the week after chemo.
I was generally fine on the EC though the effects are cumulative and was knackered by the end of it but able to lead a semi-normal life throughout and fared better than many I reckon (see profile for treatment gubbins(.
Sam
Hi Sam many thanks for your reply. I had my mastectomy six weeks ago and to be honest found it absolutely fine. The idea that chemo can be not so bad is very comforting. If being positive helps, I shall certainly try hard at that. As for being daft, I have a head start at that! All the best , coffeholic
