Hi everyone.

I was diagnosed with grade 3 stage 3 BC back in 2015... had the full package as my surgeon/oncologist told me. I was 34 at diagnosis.

I was put on tamoxifen for 10 years.... last pill to be taken in April 2026.....5 years left to go!

here is where I start my moan. I have always had good and bad days with the usual bone/joint pain, fatigue, sleepless nights etc etc but I really hoped that 5 years in I would start to see these settle? I am on zomorph, low dose amytriptyline and vitamin D also.

I have never felt so exhausted. I work full time as a special needs teaching assistant and absolutely love my job but I’m struggling. The leg pain, cramps, fatigue are worsening.

I feel like all I do is moan to my husband and family. I’m forever tired and really need to drag myself out of bed.

anyone else in the same boat?

Thank you guys xx

  • Hi MHad I completely understand how you feel. Although I am not on tamoxifen, I am on anastrozole with very similar side effects. I also take amitriptyline. Can I ask at what time are you taking your amitriptyline?  I do find that if I take my amitriptyline late at night, I feel more tired the next day. I have started taking it at 630pm, I then go to bed at 10pm. I sleep quite well, apart from being woken up with the hot flushes, but I don't feel as tired as I did when I was taking it when going to bed.  My joint pain from the anastrozole I find is worse when I am not being active. If i sit for too long I become very stiff and my joints are very painful. The evenings in front of the telly are worse.

The effects of these hormone tablets are horrid aren't they. Who would know something so small could effect us so much.
