Hi all....
Just want to say hello, I was diagnosed with breast cancer Thursday last week and it all seem so surreal... I dont think its quite sunk in yet, but for a very long time I haven't felt myself I have been extremely tired, I sleep all the time and I got no energy in my body what so ever, is this a typical thing to have when you have breast cancer?
Hello and sorry you find yourself here. Might be worth you popping along to GP to see if there is a cause if your fatigue. A year after I finished radiotherapy my daughter told me to go see GP to see if I was diabetic as I was peeing all night and always drinking water . I've always drunk a lot of water so hadn't noticed it creeping up ( I easily drunk 8-10 glasses of water at my desk in work for over 30 years as never drunk tea/coffee). I was also tired a lot if the time . GP looked at me like I was hypochondriac when I said why I was there but gave me firm for blood test. She rang me following say as my hb1ac was 117 - 42 is normal ! Since I've reduced my blood sugar I am far less tired and only pee once or twice a night !
Hi
So sorry you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
I was diagnosed in August last year, and I have to say that at that time I thought it maybe explained what was wrong with me, as for the year or so prior to diagnosis I did seem to be dropping asleep a lot.
I was 53 and had never slept very well at night and worked long hours but I did start dropping asleep so much eg in the evening after tea, at the weekends in the afternoon. I remember saying I don’t understand why I am sleeping so much. I seemed to be forever dropping of into a wee snooze!
Don’t know what your plan is but breast cancer is very treatable. I was told this at the beginning and was very sceptical but I have now found out it is true.
I have completed my chemo in January and had a lumpectomy on 4th March, due to start radiotherapy soon.
I had 3 sessions of EC, then 4 sessions of docetaxel, pertuzamab and trastuzumab in 3 weekly cycles. This reduced my almost 6cm lump in breast and lymph node under arm to no trace .... amazing!
I would definitely recommend doing the cold cap if you get offered it. You need to do it from the first session of chemo, if you have chemo. It is not pleasant especially the first 10 mins or so, but it is worth trying and persevering. I lost a lot of hair during the EC cycles but have kept enough not to need the wig I bought for just in case.
Good luck with your journey! There will be a lot of ups and downs but stay strong. I have been scared every step of the way, but each step has not been has bad as I feared.
Hi I’m so sorry about your diagnosis. I wouldn’t assume your tiredness has anything to do with breast cancer and would definitely go to your GP and tell them about your symptoms as it could so easily be something completely unrelated.
