Hi, I’m just wondering if anyone else had breast clips put in after lumpectomy. I found out yesterday, day after my surgery, that I have some. I had no idea, and after struggling with the seed implant I would have refused the clips if given the choice. I’m really struggling knowing they are in there and furious I was not informed beforehand. Waiting to speak to surgeon today and hoping I can get them removed. Having googled the life out of it now, I know why they are there but still want them out. Any help here would be appreciated. There is just so much you are not told. I’ve been so positive up until this point but this has really thrown me.
Do you mean where nodes have been removed? I have a few in my armpit after clearance which I found out about after a CT scan.
Hi HJP
Sorry to hear that you were not informed about these clips.
I had 2 clips inserted into 2 different, but close, tumour areas in my left breast. The surgeon explained that she was marking the tumour sites so that she could tell where they were when I had my surgery. I’m having chemo before surgery so my tumours might have (hopefully) shrunk by then. These clips were guided in using ultra sound and checked by mammo. They’re titanium but won’t set off Airport metal detectors, not that I’m going anywhere! Luckily my surgeon was very good and explained everything.
Is this the kind of thing you mean? I might have got hold of the wrong end of the stick.
