I am trying to find a support bra for post lumpectomy, any advise?
Marks and Spencer offer bras post surgery (that's where I got mine after 8cm lumpectomy). I still buy M&S bras now without underwires. You also don't pay VAT on the the post surgery bras.
Hope this helps
Thankyou for replying. My local M&S doesn't do them! I checked online bit could only see a limited choice, I will take another look. Thanks for link x
Thank you I will check out those. I went to Asda and they said they don't do them anymore!
Hello ,
I'm not sure if you have had your operation yet..... if not, they recommend you have a 'front fastening' bra for after surgery...
During operation they will put your bra on you. Afterwards when they come to check on you - it is easier with 'front fastening' to open bra to look.... if need be. It's not the end of the world if you can't get a front fastening - but they do prefer this type.
Try looking at 'any type of front fastening sports bra' - I bought a few from Curvissa - there are a lot online if you have a look. I don't think it really matters what type so long as its comfortable, it supports you and is preferably front fastening.
I say all this.... yet when I went for surgery I had left my 'new' bra in my room - nurse asked hubby to get it for me..... so he does.... he gets my old, tatty, comfy bra out of my bag and gives them that ...... arrrrrghhhh
Wishing you all the very best xx
Thank you for your reply and for all the advise and humour!
I am surely going to get a front opening bra I just can't found find one.
I haven't had the lumpectomy yet, it's is on March 30th x
You are at one of your worst parts now..... the waiting!!
I had mine some 3 years ago.... this is from someone that is scared of dentists, never stayed away from home (apart from holidays), no major operations....... it is nothing like your mind will imagine. I can honestly say the operation site was 'not' painful at all - the only pain I had and that wasn't a pain it was a 'stinging' sensation and this was where the sentinel node was removed from.
It is easy for me to say 'you WILL be okay' as it sounds so lightweight and flippant - I just know from the other side it is not at all how your mind is now. I'll be thinking of you
If ever you find you can't sleep or you need some light heated humour from others that have either walked before you, are walking with you or are behind you - there is a brilliant thread called 'AWAKE' - many drop in and out - day and night. If you have any questions or concerns there are plenty of us in there that can help you.
Hoping this link words.....
These are front fastening bras.... might be a bit pricy - still worth a look if you can't find any others.....
There are plenty around, just need to keep looking, I had this type 'after' operation (only because I couldn't find one 'before' - these are sold by various companies .....
