Hi All,
I never thought I would be posting on here but in the space of a month have gone from finding a lump, having a biopsy on that lump and then a second biopsy on some calcification which had a 25% of being ‘bad’, finding out it is ‘bad’ so also needs to be removed and being told mastectomy is best due to the distance they are apart. Still waiting on HER2 results but based on previous not feeling very positive which as I understand it may mean chemo before surgery. I may have this totally wrong as not a great deal of the conversation sunk in after that. Such early days for me and I’m petrified.
Hello, and a warm welcome to the group. So many people will be able to help answer your questions. Did the hospital give you a number for a breast care nurse? They are fabulous and are there to answer any questions you have, they understand they need to go over things again and are always happy to do so, so it may be an option to contact them.,
I too had a diagnosis which started as something quite small and then it just seemed to get worse! If you click on my name you can read my profile if you are interested. Try to hold onto what ever the final diagnosis, this is treatable and you will get better. Mine was her2 negative so surgery first and 3 months on I’m still waiting to hear whether I need chemotherapy or just radiotherapy, so have gone back to work ( from home);and I’m just getting on with things. many of us on here feel the waiting is the hardest part so we understand how you feel. Try to stay focussed on the fact they have found the cancer and you are now starting out on a journey to beat it. Take care and let us know how you get on x
Thank you. It means a lot for people to personally answer. I’m also 50 with a 14yo son. I won’t know the HER result for another week and in the meantime am waiting for the Queen Victoria hospital to contact me to discuss mastectomy and immediate reconstruction (which I am going to refer to as my free tummy tuck). I will keep you posted. Xx
Hi welcome to the club nobody wants to be a member of but are do pleased to have found it . Best place to be for answers and support . Please stay away from Dr google he's usually wrong and likes horror stories .
My story is on my profile which you can read if you wish by clicking on my name .
This is the worst time the waiting between appointments for your treatment plan to start . Distraction is the name of the game. My kitchen cupboards had never been so clean and organised lol
Mi e was calcification large area and small older area which had changed and I had mastectomy within eight days her 2 + diagnosis after surgery so chemo followed .
Ive read your other post about work and my advice would be to try to isolate before app. In case surgeon has gap in list ( mine did) and surgery follows quite quickly . Have a word with your BCN about what she thinks re work . Personally I think at the moment I would wait until you know what your next step is then you can look at all options with the school .
Someone I know who has an illness ( not cancer ) is teaching in a secondary but isolates in classroom and teaches online so that when pupil requires 121 they can maintain SD and hand washing between any 121
Also ask about a vaccine at my hospital they were sending cancer patients for walk in jab .
keep posting and have a browse around at different threads
Thank you! I had my first Covid jab at the end of Feb so that is a small positive in this currently pretty shit situation! I will ring my BCN today and get her opinion. Good call. Xxx
