Hi everyone

Im 43, and a mum of 3 kids (1 is grown up and left home).

I was diagnosed on February 11th with breast cancer. It's ER+, smallish tumour (<2cm). On 3rd March I had my lumpectomy, currently recovering. On top of the cancer diagnosis I've been told I have dangerously high blood pressure ended up in AnE after a home reading of 200/133 (now on meds and being monitored at GPs) and MRI showed my breast implant in non cancer boob has been ruptured (by mammogram). I've been super stressed worrying about my blood pressure trying to give me a heart attack or stroke, my ruptured implant, the cancer, whether or not they can operate with my BP problem, the operation itself etc etc. I'm now worrying about the operation results and can't seem to switch off. This whole thing has come after a messy marriage breakdown too and I really feel I have no mental resilience left. It all feels too much, I cannot think straight or seem to process any of it, it's a blur between one appointment and the next, and last 2 days when kids are at school I've sat crying all day. I feel like I'm mentally sinking.

  • Hello!  The early days are a rubbish time when you are shell shocked by a cancer diagnosis and the rapidness of treatment.
You need to regain control and address each issue one step at a time.  Speak to your Breast care nurse  about your concerns - they are a font of knowledge and will hopefully guide you through the steps of treatment.  You don't have to put a brace face on, it's ok to ask fo4 help.
There is a lovely Awake thread if you just fancy a chat .  Started over 4 years ago it's where a cross section of members just chat about life, family, treatment etc.  It's a safe place and you just jump to last post and hit reply and say hi!   If you want to know more about any members click in their name and it will show you their bio.

  • Hi Mandabee,

I was diagnosed with very high blood pressure last summer. It was easily brought under control with a low dose of 1 medication. I was just thinking about a, post Christmas, weight loss and exercise program that would hopefully help with my (meditation stabilised BP) when I was diagnosed with BC.

You must get your BP stabilised but it should be easy to do.

    Take care

  • That was meant to be ‘medication stabilised’.
