Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I don't want to be defined by Cancer. I am here for a bit of support and advise. Good to here people's experiences. Good to just get things off your chest. I've had a lump removed and then had to go back for Lymph nodes removed. That was 10 days ago now and got good news they were clear but still got to have Chemo and Radiotherapy. I live on my own as kids flown the nest. I'm 50 years old and find myself on my own watching Netflix box Sets! Anyone like to chat about there experiences would be more than happy too.
Hi, the best place to go for a general chat is the Awake thread in Chat. If you put something about yourself in your bio you won't have to keep telling people your story. I had a mastectomy in December and starting radiotherapy next week. I'm not suitable for chemo as my oncologist said the side effects would far outweigh the benefits for me.
Hi Coolfran, sorry about your diagnosis but it's great that you've found this site. As Lesley63 suggested the best place to go is to the awake thread. Just post saying Hi and you will get a very warm welcome. Lot's of us there at different stages of this process and some who have been cancer free for a while.
I'm about your age and my children have also flown the nest. I have my husband for company but like you I also watch a lot of Netflix just to switch off for a bit or when I have the energy I go for a walk.
Here is the link for the AWAKE thread https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/chat-breast-cancer/f/breast-cancer-forum/128753/awake#pifragment-13906=3282
Hope you are healing well.
