I know how you feel I have had three ops first one Oct second one Dec and finally Feb 16 when I had a mastectomy. I am waiting for the results by next week, I had the mastectomy as I did not want to have radiotherapy , as I have COPD . I wish you all the best xx

  • Hi ,  and , Sorry to find you all here but you will find a lot of help and support on this forum. Firstly can I reassure you all that breast cancer treatments are very successful these days. While they may not always be pleasant most seem to manage them. We all have individual cancers and are consequently treated accordingly with some overlap between types. The waiting for the results of tests and an ongoing plan is the worst part many find. The best bit of advice I was given was to take it all oneI  day at a time and it has served me well. It is all very scary and overwhelming at the beginning but you will adjust as time goes on. Many on here have been just where you are now and are still living life to the full (Covid restrictions allowing!) Hopefully you will have been supplied with information booklets from trusted sources-please do NOT research on Dr Google as he is often out of date or just plain wrong. If you haven't had helpful booklets contact the Macmillan site.Tel.  0808 808 00 00 - they are there 8-8 ,7 days a week and are most helpful
I am sure others will be along to help - , ask anything there is almost always someone who can answer your questions - the only silly one is the one you don't ask. We are here to help and entertain too - take a peep on the AWAKE thread under Chat and join the Fruit Loops. Then perhaps have a browse at some of the other threads too. Wishing you all well on your roller coaster ride through this disease- it is doable and I am living proof ! Click on my name to see my history if you wish.Sending virtual hugs to you all xxx

You sound so brave Helen.  Well done!  I have another biopsy ahead and they haven’t scanned me yet so also terrified what else they might find.  Can’t sleep, can’t eat and can’t concentrate.  A few weeks ago I was so looking forward  to the summer. X

  • Hi summer is sunshine it will arrive and it will help you. Think of the flowers the warmth. It will be there and help you. Wherever you are on this road this warmth will help you. Remember one day at a time. It sounds crazy but the testing and waiting results is the hardest I have found so far once you get your treatment plan you are moving forward. I know you are at the start of the road and I am only just ahead of you but you are on the road. Being terrified is I think normal don't think you will stop that no matter how reassuring we all are. You got thru yesterday and you will get thru today. One day at a time.  Hugs lots of themxxx

  • Hi Helen

Just need to talk I find mornings are very difficult for me I feel more anxious and frightened about the future just wondering if you feel the same xx

  • Hi sometimes it's the not knowing you imagine the worst. I don't know much about all this as like you I am new to it. I found that reading the other threads on here helped me to keep it in perspective.

Just reach out and talk it's good to share and you will feel better. You are not alone we are all here with you to help you on each step.  Hugs keep talkingxxxx

Hiya Jay - welcome to the  forum :-)  I'm also fairly new here - I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December and since then I've had a lumpectomy and have started radiotherapy treatment.  I found it really important to keep my sense of humour, and to have a good support group of friends and family.  I decided at the initial diagnosis that I wasn't going to let a very small lump get the better of me, and so far, I'm in control of it.  I've had a couple of nights not sleeping too well, but because I have the support, I'm managing it with a smile :-)  But maybe that's just me - I've been really lucky in that it was diagnosed very early on (routing mammogram) and it was quite small.  I have to have 5 sessions of radiotherapy and take a hormone blocker for the next 5 years, but it's a small price to pay.  Good luck with everything, and rest assured that there's always someone around to message in here xx
