Hi, I'm new to all this.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September last year, had mastectomy in November and lymph nodes removed in December. I'm due to start chemotherapy next month.
It's been a really hard journey especially having my breast removed had to be positive about the whole thing. I wanted life. I cried for that whole weekend. My mood swings and roundabouts.
Just wanted to hear from other people who had gone through the same thing.
Hopefully I should be getting my breast reconstruction in a year's time.
Hi Miss Richardson
I was also diagnosed end of September I had mastectomy,3 lymph nodes removed early December 1 lymph node came back cancerous although I had a immediate reconstruction latissimus dorsi (LD) flap. I had my first chemo on the 12th February next one 5th March no side effects yet to speak of. To be honest I just wanted the breast gone I’m more concerned about the hair loss(vain I know) taking it one step at a time
take care
Hi Miss Richardson
I don't understand why they removed the nodes in december. They could have done in November! When I had my mastectomy, they remove the sentinel node plus extra 2 nodes in case. In fact my nodes were intact but in case, they removed. It doesn't affect my ability to use my arm. They did a MRI, a PET Scan and a Scintigraphy. With all these exams, they could see the state of the breast, no metastasis, location of the tumors. My hospital refuse to do these test that's why I run away and I don't regret.
