sorry to hear about your long wait for surgery- I hope the time passes quickly ! Hopefully with your lump being DCIS the mastectomy will do the trick- do you know if it is ER+ etc yet?

I have commenced Letrozole.  Diagnosis was around Beginning of December so a very lengthy wait. It was a little fraught as cancer surgeries were stopped due to COVID.  I looked into the private route and considered that for a time however I work for the health service and have faith in what I do as a practitioner.  My first consultant transferred my case to the BCH and I am currently waiting surgery with them now.  

There is some residue outside the DCIS so I think that is why the BCH have prescribed the Letrozole.  Coping well enough with some side effects but still managing to work so all good.  Concerns will be like for many the lengthy wait for surgery and potential spread. 

I’ve just started Letrozole having taking Tamoxifen for 6 months ( I was premenopausal and so have been put in menopause as part of my treatment) . I understand Letrozole can be good at shrinking tumours pre-surgery so I hope that’s the case for you

Flip hope so.  Sympathies with you.  The menopause is difficult enough at the normal time of life. 

Well, I’m 49 so wouldn’t have been long off anyway! My side effects are fairly mild at the moment so hoping that continues.

Hi I have been put on letrozole due to delay in surgery while I have mri, my size is 11mm, did your tumour shrink xx
