I'm experiencing a lot of joint pain, especially in my knees, since starting letrozole 3.5 years ago. This is getting really painful now and I have been getting sciatica type pain on the rhs of bottom. Sleep is a struggle as everything seems to hurt when i lie down. I'm taking co-codamol at night (2 x 15mg codeine/500mg paracetamol). Really concerned about stopping taking letrozole as terrified of re-occurrence of breast cancer (grade 3 breast cancer oestrogen positive). But I feel my standard of life is restricted as struggling to exercise/walk far/sleep soundly. Has anyone else weighed up pros/cons for stopping letozole before 5 years? Also are the side effects reversable once medication is stopped? Was going to try collagen supplements but these increase oestrogen levels! Has anyone tried these? Thanks x
Dealing with joint pain and sciatica from Letrozole can make movement and sleep difficult, and it’s easy to feel frustrated by the limitations. Gentle exercises like yoga, Pilates, or light strength work can help ease discomfort, improve flexibility, and support circulation. Even short daily sessions can make a difference in managing pain and maintaining mobility.Using the right gear at home can make a big difference—something like the Everyday Exercise Mat in Raspberry Pink makes stretching and low-impact workouts more comfortable, helping you stay active, reduce stiffness, and support overall wellbeing. Consistency is key, and small steps can lead to noticeable improvements over time.
I've only been on Letrozole for a month and have taken cod liver oil for years. No joint pain as yet but honestly my symptoms are like the menopause with bells on! Hot flushes at work...and I say to my colleagues 'I'm having a tropical' ! Just give me a few minutes! One of the things I am unsure about is whether I can still take multivitamins? Any information gratefully received....and off to Radiotherapy very soon...I have invasive lobular - all these years I have been looking for lumps...never even heard of lobular until I mer my consultant
That’s good maybe the cod liver oil is the thing to take then.
I am taking multi vitamins. I wasn’t told not to and just feel it supports my immune system whilst I’m trying to build it back up. I guess maybe need to watch my calcium levels as i take a supplement of that with my letrozole prescribed by the doctor and apparently you can get too high levels.
Yes hot flushes here too, they are copeable but think it would be handy to have a fan!
I completed radiotherapy last week so wishing you well with that xx
Thank you...and multivitamins here I come! I take vitamin D prescribed by my GP as I am always low...my Dexa scan was fine thankfully.
Yes I have vitamin d too prescribed by doctor.
That’s good about your bone scan, I will be having one of those soon, not had one yet.
