Hi ,
I have recently developed a very severe bout of psoriasis which I have never had before. Noone seems to know why this has suddenly come on and km wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and if so have you been able to get rid if it. At the moment nothing is working.
Thanks x
Hi Lolly P
I am sorry to hear that you have had a severe bout of psoriasis that has developed during chemo.
During my own chemo for endometrial cancer I did have a flare up of eczema and very dry skin. I was advised to use emollients (I was prescribed diprobase) and was also given a steroid cream to use of the more severe areas. I also started to use non bio washing powder and used only non scented products when I showered. I used Tropic unscented shower gel and also their tamanu balm products. I had to tell my CNS first and she was happy as I had previously used with good success. I was also offered anti histamines to stop the itching.
Mine flared up when I became neutropenic and my skin does tend to get worse if I get run down.
As long as your team are aware and monitoring it with you, you are doing what you can. Mine did not become infected during chemo but has at other times. It may also be worth asking whether you should be monitoring your temperature in case any infection does start brewing.
Have they offered any medication/creams for it? If not I would ask about whether the emollient and the steroid cream may help you. Loose fitting clothing helped me.
I hope that you can find something that helps relieve it.

Hi Jane, Thanks for your reply. Ive also been prescribed Diprobase and Enstilar which is a steroid based foam.it does seem to have started helping a bit. I have been checking my temperature as I feel a bit hot and cold at times. Its just such a pain on top of everything else isn't it? Thanks again for your advice x
