Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone feels worse at the end of their active treatment with Tamoxifen? I have put on weight and am constantly tired and have a lot of pain/discomfort on the tops of my feet and I am shuffling along like I am about 30 years older! This has been going on for a long time but the GP just says exercise more/lose weight, develop a positive attitude and take Co-codamol! I am worried about pre diabetes and it almost feels like it’s in my head but the pain is real!
Any advice/support will be gratefully received!
Hi Fiona068 I do think the longer term treatment (tamoxifen and letrozole) can be pretty tough on some people and the problem is that these are long term, so no light at the end of the tunnel. Have you talked to your oncologist or BCN to get a more specialist view than your GP? Sometimes people also find different brands of tamoxifen do make a difference so maybe something to consider.
Also, the lovely folks here at Macmillan are just at the end of the phone for a chat or some advice, you can call them on 0800 808 0000. Best wishes
Hi Fiona068, me too putting on weight drives me mad. I’ve done Letrazole, Anastrazole and I’m now on Tamoxifen for another 5 years! I’ve always exercised but had to give up tennis so that didn’t help! My cholesterol has gone up and I’m due a review but I don’t want statins! I walk my dog every day. My oncologist says we put on weight as we get older …. Really?
