I got my wig today and I really dislike it. It looks thin and cheap. I asked if I could leave it and I was told no, or I would have to come back at another date. I was also sold a headband, stand, and care products to go with it. I was told I needed it all to care for and wear my wig.
I didn’t expect this to be a nice experience but I’ve left feeling terrible about it all.
This sounds so awful for you, and something you should not have to go through.
I went to an nhs approved wig shop in my local town. I used the voucher and paid a little extra for the wig. My hairdresser came with me and we got one as similar to my own hair as possible. When the wig arrived I went again with my hairdresser and it was trimmed to my style. I was treated so well. I haven't worn it yet as I have only had 1 chemotherapy so far. I put pictures of me on FB wearing it without mentioning it being a wig and nobody suspected. This is how we all should be made to feel.
