Hey everyone.. so I had both breasts removed with reconstruction last May due to tumors in both..one side triple negative..all margins came back well clear but had to have chemo as belt n braces I was told due to tnbc..finished that in November and I am now having monthly zoladex injection due to being pre menopausal and 6monthly zometa drip (bishphosphonates)..I am also on exemestane tablets for the next 10 years...since taking the tablets and the injections my joints are really stiff..I feel about 30 years older than I am..most days are an effort to just do basic things like walking.. I get hot flushes which aren't great but just a part of life I suppose...I thought by now 4mth after chemo I would be doing better...is anyone else in the same boat..just looking for some reassurance..x

  • Hi, yes, the achey bones and joints are a common side effect of aromatase inhibitors (one of which is Exemastene). I’m on Anastrazole, and I have very sore ankles. I also feel older than my years. This reply will bump your post up to the top again, so hopefully others will come on with their experiences. X

  • Hi, it's was diagnosed with TNBC last year. I had chemo, Lumpectomy and 20 sessions of Radiotherapy which finished on Tuesday thank God because I got really bad side effects to that. I am on Monthly zolderex injections which hopefully will go onto every 3 months and also on Anastrozole for the next 10 years.

The side effects you have described i am also getting them but I have issues in my right arm and shoulders due to the axillary clearance nodes that were taken out. I got neuropathy in my hands and feet I have chemo fog all due to the chemo I had which was paclitaxel every week and the paclitaxel an carboplatin every 4 weeks. And then 3 months of ec which was every 3 weeks.

It has been very difficult even though I have finished. I am 45 years old and feel like 80 physically. I don't just forget things I sometimes just get confused also which they have said it does get better but they can't say when.

  • Thankyou cloudier for replying..sorry to hear your in the same boat but I'm a little relieved I'm not on my own..Guess I thought after the op and then the chemo I would be back to normal whatever that means lol..x

  • Txddybear...thankyou for your reply..I'm sorry your going through a rough time aswell..I know what you mean about the brain fog..I'm also quite unsteady on my feet but don't know if that's because of the stiffness..I'm trying to exercise and do some walking but it seems to set me back if I do and end up on the couch for a couple of days..I just hope it gets better soonish..I'm not very patient and feel like I'm being a bit of a mardy bum..lol..x
