Hi all, I’ve posted in here a few times before when I was first diagnosed and then post surgery and now I’m post chemo. I’m still having the herceptin but I start radio next week. I got pretty lucky chemo and cold capped so have all hair on head, but body hair has all gone. I’m writing because I don’t want to be pedantic but I look way worse 3 weeks post chemo than I did during? Is this normal? My face is puffy, my eyebrows have totally gone, my eyelashes post chemo have gone, and I have massive bags under my eyes. My appetite has dropped a lot, I have terrible brain fog and am quite low and I just thought I’d feel better after chemo.
I start tamoxifen after radio so I’m dreading that If I already look this bad.

is anyone else having the same?

  • Hi, I know what you mean, but you are only 3 weeks post chemo. Your body has taken a huge bashing and will need time to heal. Some say it can take monthe for the effect of chemo to go. When i finished chemo i did not feel well for a couple of months.Your eyebrows and eye lashes can take up to 4 monthes to grow back and those bags under your eyes will go soon enough. The brain fog and lack of appetite will get better. I noticed my face was a grey colour for a few weeks but it all settles down i promise. Again the low mood will lift you must remember what your body has been through. The chemo is toxic so our bodies have to expel it over time. The radiotherapy will leave you a little tired and maybe a bit sore in places so ask the staff what creams are best to use on those areas, i did not have a problem but some do. I was on tamoxifen for 5 years and had no problem at all as many of my friends did,nt either I think if we eat well and rest well it all helps, please rest as much as you can it really helps with you getting better sooner, Wishing you all the best in your future treatment x

  • Thanks Wino for sharing that, helps a lot. I think i just wasn’t expecting to look worse but I guess it’s sort of a detox really x
