Hi all
o was diagnosed this a month ago and google is not my friend I do t really understand it as I’ve not met my oncologist
the breast clinic said it’s the most common cancer, but it’s also a curable one
Stage 2 in breast - grade 3 in lymph node
Reading Google tonight, and it said it’s the most fastest growing cancer and not the easiest to cure
my mind is now in overdrive
can anyone relate to this ?
If you have back pain now and it gets worse.....discuss with a doctor. My problem was pressure on the sciatic nerve. Unfortunately I reacted to the Taxotere and it caused a nerve problem damaging several. This is extreme so don't worry . Also doctors have reduced doses and drug frequency since 2015 to eliminate this side effect. But unfortunately it did accelerate the condition in my spine. The neuro surgeon told me this. At the time he had several chemo patients with problems. I guess that oncology at last acknowledged this connection which is why they have changed the doses. I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't worry too much about cancer spreading now treatment has begun. A clear PET scan means you only have cancer in your breast. The chemo will stop it spreading from there. I have a friend who was TNBC also. She had chemo first on a large tumour. She was to have a mastectomy but it shrank enough to only need a lumpectomy. That was 7 years ago now so you see treatment of TNBC is often very successful.
When does your chemo start? Don't forget to check out the Awake thread. Take care and sleep well.
I’m meeting with my oncologist on Wednesday to discuss the treatment plan. I’m in the day before to have a radiation blood test to test my kidneys are working but I also got a letter tonight to go for an echocardiogram on the 27th of December so I’m thinking surely they won’t start treatment until all tests are done?
No I don't think they will. All my tests were done during this part of December too. It's reassuring you're having them. After the electrocardiogram I had a port fitted on 23rd December and started chemo on Jan 2nd. You don't forget. I live a good life now with lots of socialising and travel but I remember it all....step by step.
