Hi all

o was diagnosed this a month ago and google is not my friend I do t really understand it as I’ve not met my oncologist

the breast clinic said it’s the most common cancer, but it’s also a curable one

Stage 2 in breast - grade 3 in lymph node

Reading Google tonight, and it said it’s the most fastest growing cancer and not the easiest to cure

my mind is now in overdrive

can anyone relate to this ?

  • Hi Wisey254

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative.  Google is certainly not your friend as the data on triple negative is years out of date  What you are feeling is perfectly understandable.  Things should start to be a lot clearer once you have your treatment plan.

They keep coming up with new treatments for triple negative particularly as we can't take anything once the treatment is finished.  Even since I was diagnosed they've come up with at least two new treatments.  You can now get Immunotherapy with triple negative which wasn't available to me when I was first diagnosed.

I was diagnosed with grade  3 triple negative over 3 years ago and after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I made a full recovery.

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever comes next for you.

    Best wishes

What did you mean about? Can’t take anything after treatment?

it’s so lovely to hear that you’ve made a full recovery

The only thing on worried about is the fact that there is an abnormality showing on my spine and I’ve had a pet scan and I’m getting the results tomorrow.

I’ve had problems with my back for years, so I’m hoping it’s just wear and tear on the discs , just another thing to add to the news about the breast cancer :-(

had a call today from the hospital. I’ve got to go down next week for a four hour appointment at nuclear medicine to check that my kidneys are working properly and then the following day I’m meeting with Man colleges to discuss the treatment plan

  • Hi Wisey254

Sorry I didn't explain that very well.  What I should have said that patients whose breast cancers are fed by hormones have follow up tablets to take to help prevent recurrence but triple negative patients don't have tablets to take once treatment is finished.

Best of luck with your results tomorrow and next week.

  • Does that mean not taking anything after treatment there’s a chance of reacurrance

  • Hi Wisey254

Unfortunately there's always a small chance of recurrence even if you take anti-hormone tablets. I know of people who had triple negative who made a compete recovery and have been living years cancer free.

  • They want to do chemo then surgery x

  • Hi Wisey254

That's the norm with triple negative.  I had chemo before surgery and it and my tumour went from 16mm to 3mm after only three sessions of chemo.

Wishing you the best of luck with chemo.

  • Hello....

has given you great information and advice. Don't  ever google....just ask on here. Someone will have the information you need or will empathise with an experience. The Awake thread is a good one to just join in and ask .  The people who post there have so much experience as well as newcomers who like yourself are just starting treatment.

I had Triple Negative BC too. Tomorrow I have my 8th year mammogram.  I had my operation first because the TNBC was only discovered when the tumour was analysed but I still had chemo and radiotherapy.  It's not always pleasant but it does seem to work. Interestingly I also had a decompression operation on my spine. In my case the chemo accelerated the problem but I probably had some defect prior to the BC so don't ignore any increase in back pain later on.

I hope the appointments you are waiting for give you a plan. You will feel more in control afterwards because you will know what is going to happen.  The treatments are improving all the time as Daisy said so you can be very hopeful for success.

Take care and keep in touch. Love Karen
