Hello,
I’ve been taking Tamoxifen since September after Primary breast cancer. I’m having no side effects of any concern except for my eyes, they have become seriously dry and itchy. I’ve got some drops from the GP but some mornings they’re so painful and sore I can barely open them. I don’t want to stop taking Tamoxifen, because I’m more scared of cancer returning than eye issues, but I dont know how long I can go on like this. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something that gets better in time? Is there anything I can do that would help ease the discomfort??? Thank you.
Hello and sorry you’re having this problem.
as a contact lens wearer for over 50 years I can identify with this, though I didn’t notice them getting that much worse on Tamoxifen. I have Celluvisc and Evolve drops prescribed, Celluvisc I use at night as I’ve found it too viscous for daytime, I’ve actually had a check up today and have been advised to use the Evolve drops more, around 4 times a day if I can.
i hope that if you use the drops frequently they will help. If not then do contact your BCN and/or GP again as maybe a more viscous drop would help you better.
Hugs xxx
Moomy
Hi KellyCol I haven’t noticed any issues with my eyes but sometimes one brand causes different side effects to another. Might be worth asking your pharmacy for a different brand of tamoxifen?
