Hi im not sure if this is right place for me as feel a fraud as I’ve not been diagnosed but wondered others experiences
i had a pain in left breast felt like bruising
Went to GP and she referred me to breast clinic aa she could feel something different between both breasts not a hard lump but lumpy and definitely diff to right side
But turns out not a breast clinic it was just a mammogram
that will be two weeks ago this coming Monday
i was told 2/6 weeks for results
i have spoken to breast clinic who said it could take up to 4 weeks for my mammogram to even be looked when I called on Tuesday then yesterday i had a call to go for results but unfortunately I couldn’t make it was was away for the night.
i spoke to breast clinic again who said i prob need an ultrasound but couldn’t tell me anymore so got more waitjng and sleepless nights
so i wondered has anyone else experienced this and would this delay in results mean good news
Don't know what your situation is but is there any chance you have private health insurance maybe through your employer? I have and managed to get tests diagnosis and lumpectomy within a month. I have a financial limit so I had chemo through NHS using same oncologist I saw privately as he does both. I'm now back under private care for radiotherapy.
Hi unfortunately i dont have cover as dont work well only admin for my husband plumbing business.
i did look into private but so expensive
im sure tests will be ok but just the wait is mad lol
Thanks Molly
think ive just got to be patient and as ive said its not the results im just fed up of the waiting
my family keep saying no news is a good thing but i dont think that is how it works lol
i will maybe try and contact them again xx
Thanks im sure they will be and as they say no news is normally good news xx
Nicky2911 firstly, you've found the right place to be, because there are so many knowledgeable and supportive people on here!
I had a routine mammogram in Feb 2022, got called back, had an ultrasound and waited for what seemed like a lifetime for the results. It wasn't, just felt like it. Diagnosis was BC they were almost 100% certain but wanted me to have biopsy done. Long story short...BC confirmed, and surgery for lumpectomy set for beginning of April 2 days before surgery,at my pre op assessment they discovered I had arrythmia...operation immediately postponed! I was floored..not only was I unaware I had a heart condition, but I wanted this 'thing' taken out of my body asap. I finally had a lumpectomy on 11th may.
One thing you learn is that things take time. That's because each and every case is different and the medical teams want to make sure that they have explored every avenue and ruled out any possible inaccuracies before speaking with you and discussing the results. It's how you would want them to be, after all, totally thorough. If you have any concerns or frustrations, share them, we've all been there, so totally understand how you are feeling

Im sorry you are having the wait, the wait is the worst part... The day I got referred to the breast clinic I had an ultrasound, not mammogram and they did biopsies at the same time. I had to wait 20 days for my result to get told I had cancer. I then had to have a CT scan and a further wait (I already knew it had gone to one lymph node as they biopsied it) of 13 days to find out if it had spread further. This wait was the absolute worst wait and really affected my anxiety tremendously. I am in a much better place now knowing and am taking antidepressants which is really helping.
I hope you don't have much longer to wait and you get good news. All the best of luck
.
Hi all just wondered in all your experiences did you all find a hard lump or did gp
Mine wasn’t/isn’t a hard lump and i cant really feel a lump
its more something didn’t feel right and felt lumpy rather than a lump
and that is what dr could feel a d it was tender
Dr did say pain was a good thing but the pain has gone now but still lumpy
i feel like a fraud and beginning to go mad thinking im wasting their time.
But dr refererred me as said definitely different to right one
has anyone had similar experience or is it just lumps
Thanks xx
Hi Nicky2911 , just thought I’d chip in re lumps or not… And also to say you’re absolutely not a fraud! All concerns re breasts (or other body bits) should be checked out. So I’ve had many breast investigations over the years, only the last of which was cancer. But I have learned from here that there are many presentations of breast cancer, not all as lumps.
In my case, I’ve had a fibroadenoma which felt like a pea - this was many years ago, the mammogram, ultrasound and biopsies were inconclusive so it was removed and found to be benign. I’ve also had cysts which felt like ‘lumpiness’ - mammogram again inconclusive but ultrasound showed they were cysts and as they didn’t cause me any problems they were left to their own devices, I may still have them who knows! Then finally I felt ‘thickening’ and had it investigated at a one stop shop - at the initial consultation the doctor said it felt ‘suspicious’ and later that day after mammogram, ultrasound and biopsies, she said she was sure it was a small cancer. Biopsy results confirmed this. So my long ramble (sorry!) is to say that cancers don’t always feel like lumps.
I hope you know more about your own situation soon, as others have said it’s truly tortuous waiting for results. In the meantime you are very welcome here and you are not wasting anybody’s time, here or at the breast clinic. Love and hugs, HFxx
