Morning

I was just wondering if anybody on here had experience of having a tumour removed from pectoral muscle? I had surgery 10days ago to remove a tumour, I wasn’t even aware that i had a tumour until a lymph nord under my armpit became hard not painful for a few months and went to get it checked out.

I called the cancer nurse last week who told me they removed 3 lymph nords and tumour from my pec muscle . I am back at hospital on Thursday for results. I was just wondering if anybody else had tumour removed from there and what outcome was from results

xx

  • My tumour was right up against my pectoral muscle. I had chemo to shrink it and then they shaved a bit off my muscle when they did the surgery, and I ended up with clear margins.

If they didn't know it was in pec muscle prior to surgery, they may want to give you chemo to be sure they get everything, though I don't have experience of it that way around.

I am 2.5 years after surgery and I still get sore if I overdo it with activity, I think because of the disturbance to nerves and muscle, but it is not at all bad and I have full mobility with no issues. It certainly doesn't stop me doing anything, and I think pain years after surgery is very common with BC. Breast tissue doesn't like to be disturbed.

Good luck with your results this week. It is awful waiting for all the various results along the way.

  • Thank you for your message

I’m not sure 100% sure what they did in surgery as it all happened so quick and my head was all ovet. I  got told On monday had cancerous cells in biopsy they did on my swollen lymph gland. Then had loads of mammograms as struggled to see were tumour was. Eventually they found it and i   had op on the friday. I only found out was removed from pec muscle when i spoke to cancer nurse.

what stage cancer and sort of cancer was yours?

  • Mine was stage 2 - though I worked that out for myself, they don't tell you these days I think. My GP got a letter saying 'early stage'. I had ER+ & PR+ cancer.
