I’m due to start chemotherapy on 12 July. I’ve had a single mastectomy with implant reconstruction and a full axillary clearance. I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma stage 2 on 23 Feb 2023.
After the axillary clearance I was having physio for cording. I also had seromas drained 4 times.
On Monday I ended up in a&e with a red rash all over my implanted breast and it was starting to spread across my back. It was so scary and alarming as my mastectomy was three months ago! A&E admitted me to hospital. I’m writing this from hospital. They were going to remove the implant immediately when the plastic surgeon saw a photo of the rash on my breast. However the rash is responding to intravenous antibiotics and starting to recede.. This is a nightmare. Today I had fine needle aspiration of the seroma on my breast.
I so hope this rash clears soon. i will have to delay my chemotherapy if it doesn’t. I may need to have the implant removed also. So many things in my head! We pink ladies must fight !! All this and I haven’t even started chemotherapy yet !
Hi Fungir05 so sorry to hear that you’ve hospitalised, that must be quite frightening. I hope the antibiotics continue to work and your chemo isn't too delayed. Best wishes
