Is any else having problems getting the brand of Letrozole they are prescribed.?I really cannot tolerate anything but Accord, and in the six years l’ve been taking it l’ve tried everything brand there is!
Pharmacies can no longer specify a brand ,they can only order Letrozole and see what turns up.My designated pharmacy returned my prescription and l have tried other  pharmacies in vain today. Most admit they are only getting the cheaper brands.

Tomorrow l will try further away,Perhaps an independent pharmacy can help?

I’ve just Googled letrozole and that just a generic name. All brands contain exactly the same, according to Dr Google. I assume it’s the difference between paracetamol with a branded name (eg Boots) or paracetamol from Lidls. One presumes they all contain identical active ingredients required… be interested to know what a pharmacist says!!

Just found something interesting..go to Breast Cancer Now and there’s a forum (2021) where they talk about different makes of Letrozole. I’ve only been on letrozole for 4 months but feel as though I’ve been battered at the back of my knees!!

  • No luck at my local Boots. Will ring the branch in next town tomorrow.

  • Hi,  , I too wanted to stick to Accord brand (it’s the fillers that get added that can cause problems, apparently)

I talked to my pharmacist, and they said I should ask my GP to put ‘please supply Accord brand’ on my prescription sheet. Once that was done I didn’t have any further problems, except for allowing them a bit of extra time to get it through from their warehouse.

    Good hunting!

  • My prescription does state Accord brand. The problem lies with pharmacy ordering. l’ve had no problems for a couple of years, because they could phone up and get me some if they were out of stock. For some reason this has changed.

Tomorrow is another day.  Not giving up yet!

  •  they do contain different ingredients for the actual pill. The best brand for me on exemestane is Accord and after a few other brands making me feel ill, I read all the ingredients and they have different fillers. My pharmacy only gets me Accord now. They have so far been brilliant at sourcing it for me, even if it takes a few days.

I had no idea..thank you. Will refer back to oncology/GP if I get problems. Appreciate feedback xx

  • If you persevere you achieve! Just returned with the Accord brand. Thank you Asda!

  • My gp has put a note on my prescription for the same reason. I seemed to get used to one brand and then it changed. I now have accord. Found cipla the worst. Good luck x
