I started T in September and the side effects are driving me nuts. From what I see the brands that I have each month is different. It is only since I have been on what appears to be mainly USA Face Book page for T users that specific Brands can be ordered. When I looked here on this MacMillan page the latest posts are for 5yrs +

Are there others out there who have these horrid side effects who can offer advise please. I'm seeing my onc tomorrow to see if there is something that an be done. I'm currently on Amitriptyline for pain (still get pain) and Oxybutynin for the hot  sweats (this worked) stopped hot sweats completely within 3 days. However there are side effects to taking these drugs as well. Any other advise would be gratefully received.

Thanks

  • Started tamoxifin 12 months ago and still get different brands every month, yes you get side effects lack of sleep, sweats  etc but i personally feel i would be swapping to different side effects if i moved to another drug,i too was on amitriptyline for really severe  pain which did nothing, gave up after 2months as i hate taking meds.the joys of BC is endless but i dont know any advise and i truly believe the medics dont know which drugs to give out which could solve all our problems, kind regards

  • Hi, I swapped from Letrozole as Tamoxifen is kinder to the bones, (I already had mild osteoporosis) for the last 2 years of my 5 on oestrogen busting meds. Yes, hot flushes increased for a while, and I still get them (useful in this cold spell!) but otherwise no extra problems. I began taking Loratidine for bone/joint pain and take a selection of vitamin//mineral supplements with my teams approval. I’m also taking CBD oil for back pain as I’ve a very longstanding spinal problem.

I’d advise talking to your team at length, side effects are present for all medication we take, nothing seems to come for free! But my feelings are that this is keeping me free of recurrence, and that’s what it’s about.
