Worried how this is going to make me feel , is it going to knock me off my feet , will I be sick ,will I get a sore gums ect . What will I do with myself all day .what false eye lashes did people use .xx
Don’t panic Mr Mainwaring!! Chemo is diff for diff people and I suggest you read Irishgirl16 blog as she tells you what ‘supplies’ you may need to have ready. I didn’t loose hair till 2nd cycle, still got eyelashes 4 chemos down. For approx 7 days after chemo I feel rough, indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, nausea, tingling in hands/feet, lethargic and sometimes a bit emotional to name but a few, but my pal sailed through all her 7 chemos with no notable after effects! Remember always, why you’re having chemo, to oust the invader!! Sending loads of best wishes!
Hi jue22
Chemo is very different for each person even if they are on the same drug regime as a general rule it seems to affect most people for the 1st few days and then ease off so if you are 2or 3weekly you get some time of feeling ok but your nurses will do everything they can to make sure you feel as little illness as possible giving you anti sickness drugs and stuff for diarrhoea or constipation and special mouth washes if needed do take all the help they offer .for the 1st few days you will probably need to rest and there is a good chance your body will not give you a lot of choice but to rest by making you tired but if it doesn't short walks in-between rest can help keep you feeling sane .not everyone loses all their hair /eyelashes etc I've seen people who have used the cool cap 3/4of way through their treatment still with a full head of hair and I think eyelashes are one of the last things to go certainly in my case I've lots leg, underarm, pubic(weiredly still have bikini line just n the rest ) and head hair but still have slightly thinned eyelashes and brows .it will be ok waiting and dreading the treatment is always the scariest part once you start even if you feel rubbish is a day nearer to beating this and that seems to help make things not so much to worry about and if you need to talk /rant there is always someone around on here even if just to offer a cyber hug take care I hope it goes ok sending one of those hugs xxxx
I love that you recommended my blog, thank you. Here's the link Chemo blog link
Good luck Jue22
I have read a couple of your posts. New here, only second time on the forum and you are so positive. Nice as the other day I was on here people were moaning about doctors appointments. I 've been diagnosed and seen very quickly and feel very blessed with the care I have received so far. It's all good.
Just read your blog ,this has helped me so much I have wrote down some notes as I had no idea . Hope you are doing well thank you so much again , good luck
Hi Jue22
ok Take a breath no need to worry honest . As said we’re all different ,our cancers are different so we get prescribed different chemo then we do our thing .
At the moment your imagination is having a whale of a time winding you up lol
You are told and given a list of SE to expect ..you would be very greedy if you got them all certainly at the same time lol . My bio is on profile just click name if you want to read .
Start to prepare now …use mouthwash to protect gums also mild toothpaste and soft child brush . Switch to paraban free bath / shower crème eg dove
moisturise skin and drink more chemo dehydrates inside and out .
If you go to the June chemo thread at top of diagnosis page there is link for hints and tips also it’s a good thread to meet a group going thru same as you .
My tip is use a diary day 1 is day of chemo ,write down how you feel be it nausea , tiredness ,bowel problems etc etc . Usually a pattern emerges then you know what to expect .
by day ten your body starts to recover so I would plan some treats day out etc before next cycle
good luck
