I had my radiotherapy review today and only one more treatment to go. Feeling really positive all going well until I was advised it was highly likely I would get blistering as a result of radiotherapy  So my fellow warriors in anticipation of this what recommendations do you have to reduce effects. Fingers Fingers crossed it doesn't happen but just in case I want yo be prepared.

Thanks in advance of any advice you can offer

  • Sorry to hear that you have been warned about blistering.  I only had 5 consecutive sessions and I too was warned.  I have very sensitive skin.  I used moisturising cream three times per day for five weeks and I did not have a problem.  I was able to wear a soft bra throughout the treatment and since then.  The cream that I used was Eucerin that I bought off Amazon, but I am told that E45 is also good.  I was very careful not to rub the skin and only pat it dry with a soft towel.  Good luck with it and I hope that you will not have any blistering.

  • Hi. I had 5 sessions of radiotherapy and didn't blister. I made sure i moisturised. It did however get a little itchy after a couple of weeks, but i continued to moisturise and it soon settled down. Good luck

  • Thanks my fingers are crossed

  • Thanks for reply I will follow your advice I have moisturiser do will make sure I keep using it.

  • Hi, I had 10 sessions, used either E45 or Aveeno and had no blistering. I do have some swelling and discomfort even now, 6 months on, but I've been reassured this is not unusual. Sometimes I feel this is the gift that keeps giving…

  • I’ve just had 19 sessions. I was given Betnovate steroid cream to apply early evening and then Zerobase cream to moisturise morning and night.
I think each consultant/team chooses it’s own preferences for treatment but moisturising seems universal.  I was warned that friction can cause problems, as in bras etc. I have a feeling of sunburn, nipple pain and tightness of skin but no blistering as yet!

  • That's promising she implied based on where they treated me it was a no brainer. I can expect blistering. Thank you I intend to avoid at all costs if I can

  • I had 25 sessions they provided me with Flamigel RT which was brilliant GP can also prescribe mainly sunburn symptoms best of luck x
