Make up tips for sensitive skin

Hi everyone, hope you all had a lovely easter and keeping well.

I was wondering if anyone could give some advice. Since I started chemo my face has become really red and pimply. I have changed to LaRoche-Posay, which seems to help a bit. But I would like to find a foundation to cover up the redness, not everyday, but at least when I am going out for dinner. I don't know what brands to go for, I am not really into make up apart from powder, eyeliner and gloss.

If anyone has any recommendations for sensitive skin I would really appreciate it.

Sending you all happy greetings, Bianca

  • hi

There is a charity called look good feeling better

    https://lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk

They do skin care and makeup sessions for cancer patients. I had a great time doing a virtual makeup session and picked up some great advice.

You also get a goody bag, full of leading brand stuff.

  • Thanks Rachel, I'll definitely check that out. Goody bag sounds great

  • Hi, have a little eczema and use the green SOS primer from Clarins to help with it - you only need a tiny amount.   Although its designed to be used before foundation, have also used on its own.  https://www.clarins.co.uk/sos-primer/80081158.html   shade 04

  • Thank you, I have always had red cheeks and nose, but now its really bad. So anything that helps is appreciated.

  • Hi there,

I have contact dermatitis and use bare minerals complexion rescue tinted moisturiser. I find I don’t react to it and it evens out my complexion without looking heavy. X

  • Particular attention should be paid to the first layer in contact with the skin - the base, primer, or foundation. They should be labeled "hypoallergenic" or "suitable for sensitive skin." This means they will not contain potentially allergenic active botanical ingredients or shimmer that can cause skin irritation. In addition, the foundation should obligatory contain SPF protection. Various Anime accessories are very good for skincare. Because they are designed specifically for sensitive skin. I've been using them for a long time, and I don't have any pimples. My skin is always soft and has great color.

  • I liked the roche-possay redness reduction cream. Or look at tropics products. I can 100 percent recommend the look good feel better course. I did the zoom course, but the macmillan/maggie's centres offer in person ones too.

  • Hi. Do try to get onto the look good feel better course - it’s fab. I managed to get on one during lockdown in Cardiff by going onto the wreserve list - they rang me in the morning and I went along about 3 hours later but the course is really in demand. They give you a sample kit of really well known products which are donated by the manufacturers (mine included Clarins, Clinique, Soap & Glory) and work you all through how to apply it all. Mine was run by an ex Clinique sales lady who’d had cancer treatment. The Cardiff one is held at the Maggies Centre next door! It was also really enjoyable to talk with ladies who are in various stages of treatment and problems/solutions they’d come up with! ,.
