Hello All,

I finished my chemo nearly 2 month ago and since than I get every bad shooting pain and numbness in my left hand and arm, mostly during the night but lately as well during the day and it seems to get worth and not better. They call it Peripheral Neuropathy. I am not so keen in taking the medication they recommend as they are anti depressing which come with their own side effect.

Hence I thought I ask if anybody of you may have/had the same symptoms and find some great tricks to ease the pain without medication. Or if you use medications for it do they they worked would you recommend them?

Thanks for any advice.

  • Just replying to get you bumped up to the front in the hope that someone relevant answers you. Love from Ann

  • How is peripheral neuropathy connected to depression? I find this strange as the neuropathy is a pure physical issue.

I was told two conflicting answers to, "is this going to get better?" when it comes to this conditioin. My oncologist seemed to think it wouldn't, the oncology pharmacist was certain it would. When I told the oncologist what the pharmacist said he promised to look into it, but since the issue at my end is very light I never followed up on it.

One thing I did was use an elevating cushion for the limb in question. It helped at times, was uncomfortable at other times, but at least it gave an option.

Since this is a nerve issue, perhaps it is worth asking to be referred to a neurologist, they might have something up their sleeve that is not necessarily a medicine.

Also, possibly a completmentary therapy? I want to look into these once my treatment is finished and the period of self-isolation is over. Unsure if they have anything useful to offer me, but worth taking a look at least, I think.
