Has anyone tried taking fermented cod liver oil for pain? If so, does it work. I read somewhere that it is good for joint pain but no-one has ever confirmed this.
Hi pensionerp I have never come across this before so can't help but wanted to reply to you to bump your post back up to the top of the list in case someone who does know is around and sees it this time.
I hope your pain isn't too bad.
Thanks for that as I'm sure I read it from someone on this support group. Pain is sometimes horrendous and other days OK. Just have to do what I can. Daytime is fine but night is when you really notice it.
pensionerp I would ask your oncologist about what you can and can't take and if they have no objection to fermented cod liver oil then I would give it a go in case it helps you. Your oncologist might also be able to make other suggestions of things you can take.
I've read on here that some people have been helped by taking a glucosamine supplement or by changing brands of medication. There were a couple of posts from a while back where people did well on a brand called Accord and had pains when taking other brands. So maybe try and notice whether a particular brand is better or worse for you.
There is a lot of confusing information out there and different things work for different people. I hope you find something that works for you as pain is so exhausting.
I have changed to Accord and the pharmacy ensure that is what I get now as \\i had trouble with other brands. I think most of the pain is due to lymphoedema so will contact them to see if another sleeve might help. Sleep is worse thing as pain is mainly night time.
Thanks for asking this question because I too am not coping well with joint pain, especially in my knees. GodWilling mentions glucosamine - I was taking this before my diagnosis and stopped taking it when I started chemo. I wasn't told to stop but I felt that my liver had enough to cope with so decided this for myself. I am planning on asking the oncologist about taking it when I next get to speak with him. I've only been on letrozole for 3 weeks - will also ask about how to try a different brand.
I will update on here if/when there's any progress.
I’m on Accord brand. Only on month 2 so early days but I have only very very minor issues so far. Boots stocked it for me. GP specified the brand on prescription.
