Feeling lost

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with invasive cancer last week. Hormone negative, but HER2 positive. I’m waiting to see the chemo specialists & get dates for treatment, Had CT last week (didn’t show any spread) and due to have MR scan in a couple of days as a baseline ahead of chemo starting/check if any more biopsies are needed. I had the blood test yesterday to check for the gene. That will take 6 weeks to come back. Will have surgery after chemo some time next year but can’t have radiotherapy as I had it 10 years ago for DCIS, which also limits my surgery options.

I've been really busy for the last week but got a quiet few days ahead & started feeling a bit lost. Feeling the rollercoaster of emotions. Also feel shattered! Guessing this is a normal reaction?

    1. Hi Hosemonkey,

This community is here for everyone who feels lost, shattered with the rollercoaster of emotions.

We are on this unwanted journey together & have differing responses on how to manage. What you are going through is normal.

My advice is to take each day as it comes - if you want to scream, cry, etc - just do it. Rest as much as possible. Remember to be kind to yourself & stay safe.

    Jen Slight smile

Completely normal reaction to something that is so far out of the norm.

You are in the very tricky phase post-diagnosis of waiting for all the results to settle and a plan to form.

Just be so, so kind to yourself and be as tired as you need.

    Rest and recoup whenever possible.

Huge hugs from all of us here.

Things often seem more approachable once there's a plan so hoping that will be the case for you.

Thankyou. I hope I’ll feel a little more settled once I have dates to work towards.
