2 weeks ago on USS my axilla looked clear but been informed by breast care nurse today that MRI has picked up some abnormalties so will need lymph nodes biopsied on Monday. Was in clinic yestersday and doctor never mentioned my lymph nodes at all.   Been so upset today. Has anyone had MRI pick something up that turns out to be negative?

  • Wow Mel28, sounds like you’re having a rotten time of it. I think they need to biopsy because MRIs are not infallible, in either direction. My consultant said the sentinel lymph nodes are like the exit door from the breast so they like to check the cancer hasn’t found the exit, and if it has track where it’s got to. it’s all about planning your treatment to give you the best possible outcome. We’re taking a similar journey in some ways. I find out the result of my lymph biopsies on Monday- fingers crossed for both of us

  • I wish I had your consultant.  Mine seemed very interested in preserving the breast 2 weeks ago which gave me hope to now booking me in for more biopsies and provisionally booking a mastectomy in case I need it.  Good luck for Monday x

  • My consultant is lovely. On the other hand he suggested the surgery to my right breast went badly and he now wants to do a mastectomy. But he wants the path lab to confirm. So basically friendly consultant or not, we could end up with the same result. But we will be survivors and that’s what’s important in the long run.

  • I need your positivity, mine has slowly disappeared.  Think I am just having a bad day x

  • I only go on here when I’m feeling positive. When I’m negative I retreat into my cave but lately I’ve been getting a lot of support from Macmillan which helps a lot
