Hi all, I had an auxiliary clearance last Thursday and Tuesday started to develop a rather large seroma under my arm, so phoned BCN yesterday and went to the hospital where they drained 450ml out of it. The problem I have now is that the sticky dressing she put on which looks like a big plaster has basically burnt my skin, I was just wondering whether anyone has any remedies that would soothe it, I’ve tried savlon which hurt like hell and sudocrem but it’s still stinging. I’ve asked the BCN this morning and she just said to leave it dry.
Thanks in advance
Diane x
HI Di54
I didn't have any problems with my BC dressings. However, I had a motorbike accident when I was 17 and have been left with a lot of scar tissue on my leg. I had a silver foil dressing placed on these scars once (silver foil has good healing properties apparently). I was allergic to the silver foil and it burned the tissue and stung like anything! As I have had plastic surgery on my leg, the latest appointment I had with the team about another issue I had was to wash the area normally and then leave it open to allow the air to get to it. It was suggested by the plastic surgeon at one of the most renowned plastics hospital in this country that Badedas shower gel was a good one to use because of the horse chestnut in it.
Best to follow your BCN's advice about leaving it open to the air and to dry as this is what the plastic surgeons recommend for wound healing too.
Best wishes, Lesley
Hi Lesley thank you for replying, I’ve left it dry, just can’t believe I had a reaction to it. x
