Hi all just wondering what creams or oils everyone used to help heal their scars. I’ve read silicone cream/sheets are good but can be expensive, has anyone tried it.

  • I haven't tried the sheets but I know people who have with great success. I am using bio oil and my scar is looking fine, though don't know what it would have been like without bio oil! I think the added bonus of the oil is that I massage the scar twice a day and I think that has definitely helped to soften it over the months.

You can't use bio oil until 4 weeks post surgery and same for during radiotherapy

  • Hi

i bought some silicon scar reduction dressings from amazon for about £8 a box. There were 4 sheets and I could cut each on in half to cover my scar so I got 8 dressings. They are also washable and reusable. You can only use them when you are fully healed.

I thought they worked brilliantly and really flattened my breast scar and also protected my scar from rubbing on my clothes.

i used the dressings for about 8 weeks and stopped using them when I started radiotherapy

For a cream I used Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Deep Moisture Comfort Balm

it absorbs really easily without too much rubbing

    Hope this helps

Sounds good so I think I’ll order some dressing and use bio oil after wards. Thanks for your reply
