Am new to site .. had lumpectomy in April and starting 4 weeks of radiotherapy on 10th August . I wondered if anyone has advice on comfy bras to wear when skin gets sore .. oncologist implied that as I have largish ‘ dangly’ boobs , sensitive skin and lump on underside of boob it was likely I’d get skin reaction underneath boobs.
can anyone recommend something I could wear to support boobs and help stop rubbing when bouncing but that won’t itself rub under there? Im at a loss!

Tesco XL pull on sport bra comfy after surgery .. I’m plump and 38 G

    Bless you,

Yes, I was able to get my arm into position, without issue.  In fact, I had shown the Breast Care Team, with my OK shoulder, how far I could get but I don't think they listened.  My range hasn't changed much, if any.  So, they were just being 'horrible' and almost 'bullying' me, presumably thinking that I'd suddenly, after 7 months from injury, to start doing some exercises, or something!!!!  I felt very insulted, to say the least.

They certainly increased my stress levels +++, unnecessarily.  However, in the past now, although I have put in a complaint plus discussed all the issues with my Breast Care Nurse (who happens to be the manager - so you'd expect better than that, surely)

As for my shoulder, I'm still working on excersises, seeing the physio (F2F) regularly, hoping for improvement ...  Slight smile

Hoping all goes well on your journey Slight smile

Bras have always been a bit of a nightmare for me, I’m a KK. Soft bras hurt my shoulders so I’ve taking the wires out of my underwire bras and that’s helped.

I'm about to start radiotherapy and was told not to put any creams on my skin. It sounds such a great idea so I wondered if you could recommend the moisturiser that helped you. Many thanks.

I’m only 3 days into treatment so early days but my oncologist suggested aveeno and I have been using that .  Lots of people on here have used aloe Vera gel which they got from Holland and Barrett and kept in the fridge.
Hope this helps and good luck with radiotherapy!

  • I’m also using the aloe vera gel (from fridge) but the radiographer noticed I had a small dry patch of skin, told me the gel can be too drying if used all the time and that I should alternate the gel with a moisturising cream so now using Aveeno.

  • I was advised to moisturise before radiotherapy session then aloe Vera gel after it, then moisturise before bed.  I had 15 session and my skin held up well - just a bit red but the skin underneath became wet, smelly and peeled about 3" in crease so I put a panti liner there .  For two weeks after rads I put aloe Vera gel to cool skin on multiple times a day when it felt hot.  Skin returned to normal within weeks.  I used E 45 cream as that what my unit recommended.  I don't have overly sensitive skin though .

Thanks so much. I generally find aloe vera quite drying for my skin but my lovely sister-in-law has got me some Aveeno so it's good to know I can try that or E45.
