Has anyone had a reduction on your good breast? How long did the surgery take and how long was your recovery from the surgery? Going to seethe plasters surgeon next week.

  • Yes I did.  Had it at the same time as mastectomy so just added on a couple of hours to the surgery time.  Actually recovered really fast from this.  Faster than mastectomy side!  Drain came out after a few days.  No ongoing discomfort since.

    Just keep going!
  • Thanks Kitz

I have already had a reconstruction but the plastic surgeon was talking about reduction maybe in 6 months time and was wondering what the recovery time would be don’t think I’ll have it if I have drains again.

    Thanks

    Anne  xx

  • I saw you had immediate reconstruction, I am looking at that also having radiotherapy  I saw you had implants and still could have radiotherapy, which implants please xx

  • I had a polyurethane implant as they withstand the effects of radiotherapy better.  To be honest it is a bit lumpy and uneven but I think they can sometimes be like that without radiotherapy. x

    Just keep going!
  • Hi Anne - honestly the side I had the reduction on healed so much quicker than the mastectomy side.  The drain came out in just a few days.  I don't think you will regret it. x

    Just keep going!
  • Hi I have discussed everything with my surgeon and decided on same as yourself. My plastics surgeon meeting with my breast surgeon Wednesday and then I will be booked on for surgery xx

  • I had reduction on the good breast at the same time as the lumpectomy on the affected breast. No issues at all as the issues are coming from radiotherapy on the affected one. Same recovery time without any after effects.

  • Hi what issues are you having on the affected breast pls, when did you have surgery xxx

  • Hi. It's mainly thickning of the scar tissue which makes it feel a bit tight and uncomfortable. I've also been having nerve pain, similar to sciatica but higher up. I'm having a bone scan on Tuesday to make sure the cancer hasn't spread (which I'm hopeful about as my cancer was grade2/stage 2 with clear margins and no node involvement,). If the scan is clear then it's wear on the spine and we'll need to see what they can do. I hope it all goes OK for you. Take care. Xx

  • Thank you, mri soon, and they can check my lymph nodes again, but scan on them was only 4 weeks ago and showed they was healthy, did you have an mri, how large was your area pls xx
