Has anyone had a reduction on your good breast? How long did the surgery take and how long was your recovery from the surgery? Going to seethe plasters surgeon next week.
Hi. Yes I had an MRI. It actually picked up the 3rd growth. I had 3 growths localised in about a 2.7/3cm cm area. The growths we're 19mm, 6mm and 2mm. MRI had suggested the nodes were clear and that was confirmed by the Sentinal Node Biopsy they did while I had surgery. Xx
The smallest one showed up on the MRI while the other two showed up on the ultrasound after the mammogram. I had the mammogram 25th June 2020, surgery 25th August 2020 and 9 radiotherapy sessions at the end of the November finishing on 25th November (there seems a there with the dates!). It didn't feel like it at the time but on reflection it was pretty quick. Xx
Mine was picked up on screening mammogram, then had more enhanced mammogram and was told it is 11mm, been started on hormones meds because of delay in surgery, on letrozole, had vacuum biopsy to diagnose, having mri in just over a week, so lymph nodes will be checked, again. What type of breast cancer was yours xxx
Mine was lobular. I’d been referred for genetic screening when I was put in HRT because of family history. The screening came back as clear of genetic changes and no raised risk in January 2020 but they agreed to put me through for one early mammogram (I was turning 50 in October) because I was twitchy about the timings of the screening programme. My mum was first diagnosed with breast cancer at 50 at her first mammogram. Just as well as it turned out as we’d moved house and the area we moved to had been screened in February 2020 so in normal circumstances I wouldn’t have been screened until 2023/24 depending on the pandemic backlog. It was the mammogram that found the growths. There were no symptoms or lump as lobular grows in lines. I got a call the next day to come back a week later when they did another mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy of two areas that were picked up by the ultrasound.
Once the biopsy came back with the results (about 10 days later I saw the surgeon and they booked the MRI on 4th August. It found the 3rd growth which was lying behind one of the others. Xx
