Hello there,

Just wondered if anyone has experienced Mondors cording after a lumpectomy. I had cording down my arm which has thankfully gone . I first felt this new cord under my skin at the weekend, it starts overr my ribs and runs down my right hand side finishing at my waistline ( I think). It feels tender to touch and a little bit like having a stitch. Any advice on this would be much appreciated,  take care everyone Purple heart

  • Hi Sca28

I would ring your breast care nurse and ask them about it.

  • Hi

I have never heard of it but there is a good information piece from Breastcancernow here https://breastcancernow.org/information-support/have-i-got-breast-cancer/breast-pain-other-benign-conditions/mondor’s-disease

If you search on that site there  are a few conversations about it which might help ?

    Hi Jo,

Thanks so much for the info, I've had a look and it seems to fit what I have, going to show bcn at next appointment for their advice,

  • HI This could equally be regular cording rather than Mondor's (which I don't know about). I have had regular cording following mastectomy and node clearance. It was quite severe and went down as far as my waist. 18 months on and it has vastly improved through massage, physio and exercise. Regular cording can go down to the hand and also as far as the waist. I have ongoing appointments with a Women's Health physio at hospital, since mine is probably something I will need to manage on an ongoing basis. I would agree that your BCN is your first port of call, but I would recommend asking for a referral to a physio who deals with post breast surgery issues?  Sending best wishes. x
