How is tumour sized measured correctly

Hi Sharon, what is it about the size that is worrying you? My nurse advised that different measurement methods can result in variation of sizes but they would only know the definitive size when the tumour has been removed. She also advised that grading is determined on a variety of factors including the type of cancer, not just size, so if your consultant is saying that your tumour is Stage 1 and small, and has agreed that a mastectomy is an appropriate treatment plan, knowing the exact size isn't going to change your current treatment plan. They will conduct a biopsy on the tumour after it has been removed to help with planning what type of treatment you will need after the mastectomy. Easier said than done, but try to take one step at a time and discuss any concerns with your nurse otherwise you will make yourself ill with worry and you need to be as fit as you can to help you recover from the surgery. Your surgery has been agreed and things are progressing well, which is good news considering you were only diagnosed last week, so try to focus on the positives x

Yh I definitely need to breath, hopefully will be seen in clinic soon, I believe to take measurements and size, then will be booked in for surgery.  Sorry what was your treatment and diagnosis again xxx

I think its because I am thinking what if consultant is wrong and its big, don't your mind play tricks on you sometimes xxx
