Hi.
I am going to take my first Anastrozole tablet today so yet to find out how it is going to affect me. But I asked my pharmacist what suitable supplements I can take as I am already suffering with my legs joints and hips and walking with still having 3 weekly pertuzamab and trastuzumab and she said I could take glucosamine & chondroitin.
I have still to buy some so don’t know how effective it is yet.
I believe that after a few months of taking letrozole, Anastrozole, etc the side effects can ease of for some people?
hope things ease for you x
What brand are you taking, and how long for? Cipla did that to me after about 3 days, but it took 3 months for Accord to do it.
Loratadine is helpful and used by some woman as it's anti- inflammatory as well as anti histamine. There is some evidence it may slightly reduce recurrence. Turmeric, tart cherry, a good vitamin d/ calcium/ magnesium/ vitamin K supplement, walking, intermittent fasting (which also might reduce recurrence), acupuncture .... all options which some feel helpful...
This is such a brilliant reply Londonmumof2, until we see all these different supplements, vitamins wrote down we can tend to overlook them..... like me with magnesium .... will be looking into this along with the vitamin K supplement - Thank you xxx
Hi
please do check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any supplements.
I am currently on pertuzamab and trastuzumab and just started on anastrozole. When I checked what was safe to take to help my aching joints with the pharmacist where I am being treated, I was advised not to take turmeric supplements. Apparently it is okay for turmeric spice in cooking but there is no long term evidence as to what levels are safe in supplements. So I was only advised only to take glucosamine and chondroitin.
Always worth checking before taking anything?!
I have been on Letrozole since October. First few months on Accord were fine. Then my next prescription were three different brands. Cipla which made me very stiff. Accord which again was ok then Sun Pharmaceutical which has given me bone pain and pins and needles. I asked my GP to switch me back to Accord which she did today so fingers crossed it will be more manageable. My advice keep a note of what brand you are given and make a note of the date you start taking and note any side effects. If any problems discuss with your GP or breast care follow up nurse.
Stay Positive.
Hello BaileyLady, I have just started to take Anastrolozle this is my second week and so far have experienced no side effects. So hoping it stays this way and hope this happens for you as well.
Figgy2019 I hope your side effects soon disappear and hope you are able to have a good night's sleep. Hard enough going through treatment without side effects from medication to cope with as well.
Take Care both

Hi Jenny
so pleased you are doing fine on the Anastrozole!
I have been taking them for 8 days now, and I have not noticed any difference either! Think we have gotten lucky. Let’s hope it continues!
on Tuesday I had my 3 weekly pertuzamab and trastuzumab and I also had my first dose of Zoledronic acid. I had one day of feeling very flu-ish, but then it passed so I seem to be back to normal.
Just wish my achy hips, legs etc would go then I would feel better again but I think that is going to be ongoing until November when I finish the pertuzamab and trastuzumab.
Take care
Ok have just picked up my latest prescription of letrozole. They have given me two seperate brands can I ask the pharmacy to change them or do I get in touch with my gp xx
As far as I know, once you've left pharmacy, they're unlikely to take them back, only to bin them. They're not allowed to re-issue to another patient.
However, I suggest ordering your prescription at a separate time from any other meds, so that it's on it's own script. You can then take the script to any pharmacy who has the brand you want in stock ;)
