I had my first FEC treatment on Friday and used the cold cap, which was actually very bearable. That day and night was fine but for the next three days I had an unbearable excruciating headache. I’m wondering if it’s side effects from the drugs or the cold cap? I’m reluctant to just give up on the cold cap as I found it better than I thought I would, and I’d be pretty miffed if I didn’t use it next time and still got the headaches.
can anyone offer any insight?
thanks

Hi
I'm sorry to read that you've experienced unbearable headaches after having FEC treatment last week.
Although I can't help with any experiences I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. This is probably because this is such an active group that your post has slipped off the first page before someone with the right experience has seen it. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of this discussions list.
I hope everything goes well next time.

Hi Seza43
I had my first ever chemo yesterday with a cold cap, pleasantly surprised as to how easy it was, I had it on for 3.5hrs!! Also a tip don’t wash your hair for 3 days before or after.
Re headaches I had one all last night and this morning, I think it’s more to do with the side effects of the steroids, if you take your temperature first and it’s fine I was told I could have a paracetamol, I did and it shifts it, perhaps check in with your chemo unit?
Good luck with the next few days
Thank you,
I did check in with the chemo unit and they sent me to a&e as it didn’t get any better. Now they think I have some brain tumours so I’m ruling out the cold cap for the severity of the headaches!
Thank you for your reply and super good luck with your treatment, I hope you manage to keep with the cold cap and your hair
