Hey, I’m just curious. Obviously the news I received last week was a shock and Im still trying to figure out what I can and can’t do.
I have a tattoo booked a week before my surgery
is it safe to still go for my tattoo?

im having surgery to remove the cancer in my left breast then radiotherapy after that.

the tattoo is going to be on my right forearm.

xxxx

  • Hi Rga1 welcome to the forum.

I would be tempted to say don't have the tattoo so soon before surgery as any infection at all will render the surgery delayed and that would not be the best idea.

Thats just my thoughts but it will be interesting  to see what others think.

  • Hello,

I'm of the same mind as granny59. I had my nose pierced in the October and I was diagnosed in the November and removed the new piercing and allowed it to heal as I was worried about infection. Plenty of time for tattoos after you are recovered from treatment.

    Hi,

You'll need all your healing powers to be concentrated on your breast. They will also need to access your veins for anaesthetics etc usually done on the opposite side to surgery..Ask your BCN but I'd leave it to after.

      Good luck with your surgery

Thanks everyone, I’ve cancelled my appointment and they were very understanding. From this I’ve removed all my piercings too that I had done a few weeks ago. I don’t wanna risk anything. Can always get everything after xxx

It is something to aim for after your surgery and recovery.
